Maddy Schaffrick

Pro Since 2008
23 Age USA

Snowboarder Maddy Schaffrick isn’t just one to watch -- she’s one you can’t help but watch. A bright spot on the winter sports radar since she was a grom, the Colorado native blazed into her pro career at age 14, finishing that 2008/09 season with a Grand Prix podium.

Successive years have seen her amp up her progression, contending in the World Cup halfpipe and medaling at Dew Tour, among others. Maddy combines power and amplitude with outstanding technical skills and an uncomplicated, “every girl” attitude. After twice being the youngest contender at the Winter X Games (2009, 2010), and narrowly missing a spot on the 2010 Olympic team, she came back from injury and nearly 18 months of knee rehab with a runner-up performance in the 2011/12 Grand Prix season opener.

The timing couldn’t be better. Not only is Maddy healthy, but with the 2014 Olympics fast approaching, for the first time she’s also looking at the opportunity to concentrate on training without the obligations of high school. For Maddy Schaffrick -- and for snowboarding -- the future is most definitely now.
